Once you have addressed the issue of toilet training the next area of puppy training tips that new dog owners want to know about is how to get their puppy to stop biting them.

Even though they are only small and don’t have strong jaws just yet, they do have razor sharp little teeth. They are not going to do you any serious damage, but it can get quite painful. The issue is more serious when your puppy is playing with small children.

There are two great tips that you can use to stop your puppy biting. The first tip is to play on their natural instinct, the second uses  that mainstay of dog training, distraction toys.

In video below the trainer, Dee, demonstrates these two methods with the help of puppy Meg.

Its interesting that a puppy has the in built instinct not to hurt their friends when they are playing. I know this approach was very effective with Daisy, our youngest dog, when she was a puppy.

In time your puppy will stop chewing you with their sharp little teeth, but in the meantime these two methods should speed that process up and stop them doing too much damage.
